28 Years Later, directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, revived the influential horror series the pair launched with 28 Days Later. The 2025 film returns to a Britain reshaped by the outbreak of the rage virus.

Boyle and Garland's original film is widely credited with reinvigorating the zombie and infection-horror genre, and their return generated substantial anticipation. The new installment is planned as the beginning of a fresh story arc rather than a standalone sequel.

With its bleak, atmospheric vision of a long-abandoned landscape, 28 Years Later reestablished the franchise as a serious entry in modern horror.
