Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two arrived in 2024 as one of the most anticipated science-fiction films of the decade, and it delivered — grossing more than $700 million worldwide and drawing some of the strongest reviews of the director's career.
Adapting the second half of Frank Herbert's landmark 1965 novel, the film continues the story of Paul Atreides as he unites with the Fremen of the desert planet Arrakis to wage war against House Harkonnen. Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul, joined by Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Austin Butler, with a thunderous score once again provided by Hans Zimmer.
Shot largely on location and on enormous practical sets, the film reaffirmed Villeneuve's commitment to grounded, tactile world-building — an approach that has made his Dune films a rare example of original-feeling blockbuster spectacle.
